Our client supports the waste and recycling industry through specialised mobile equipment and fleet services and maintains and services a large range of waste trucks and associated hydraulic systems, helping customers keep their fleets running safely and efficiently.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our service and maintenance team. This role is focused on repair, fault finding, servicing and preventative maintenance of mobile waste trucks and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose faults and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Perform repairs on waste trucks and mobile plant equipment
  • Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
  • Respond to breakdowns and urgent repair work
  • Replace and repair components including pumps, cylinders, valves, motors and electrical systems
  • Interpret technical drawings, manuals and schematics
  • Ensure all work complies with safety and quality standards
  • Maintain service records and documentation
  • Work both independently and collaboratively within the team

Skills & Experience Required

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (essential)
  • Strong experience repairing heavy vehicles, trucks or mobile plant
  • Solid knowledge of hydraulic systems and fault finding
  • Basic to intermediate automotive electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience in maintenance, servicing and breakdown response
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic ability
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage field service tasks
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety

Licences & Requirements

  • HR Driver’s Licence or willingness to obtain
  • Ability to travel to customer sites as required
  • Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol testing
